I have a 2005 Grand Am v6 SE and just recently it wouldn't start in the morning, but when I get home from work it starts right up.

Recently, it has not started at all, maybe once or twice a week.
So I did the following:

Checked the fuel pump. Ok
Checked the starter. Ok
Security bypassed. Still no start.
Installed a new ignition switch and lock cylinder.

After the ignition switch and lock cylinder replacement, the car would start if I held the key in the start position. Then I had to turn the key from start to on position numerous times until it would start.

I don't know what is wrong with this car, any suggestions would help.

Did you do a fuel pressure test? Do you have a check engine light?

When it doesn't start there is nothing.

I can hear the fuel pump priming. The dash lights come on, then only the oil and check engine light stays on.

have you tried your spare key, sometimes the chip in the key goes out...would also check to see if there is a code in the bcm, it will tell you if its security or not.

jblot,
I would like to apologize for the issues that you are experiencing with your vehicle. Have you been able to get this resolved? If you are still experiencing this I would suggest that you take your vehicle into your local GM dealer and have them assist you in getting this diagnosed. They may be in the best position to get this diagnosed for you. Please keep me posted and if you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you,
Stacy GM Customer Service

I would take it in to a local GM dealership if they didn't charge $95 for the diagnostic.

have you tried to start it in neutral?

I would like you to post something useful.

Have you tried the spare key and have you had the BCM checked for codes?

03_GA, I agree.

Neutral won't start, BCM no codes, spare key same issue.

could be a bad crank relay, swap it out with another one in the fuse box, also pull out the ignition switch and roll the gears with your thumb and see if it starts,if its one tooth off it wont work right with the key..make sure wires are tight on starter...i will be thinking of other fixes that dont cost anything..
