P0502

Hey everyone.

Our 2001 Sunfire GT 2.4, since it has gotten cold out, first thing in the morning it gets the code P0502 Vehicle Speed Sensor Low Voltage. It does this only in the morning, and when we are warming the car up, if I clear the code, it does not come back until the next morning.

I am thinking about trying to locate the sensor and change it out, the car runs great, no problems at all.

Thoughts?

VSS is located on the back side (firewall) of the tranny.

This is a manual transmission, it is supposed to be above the CV joint on the right side.
I cannot find, so I guess this weekend I will pull the wheel, and the plastic cover on the wheel well to see if I can find it.

If the speed sensor needs replacing, then wouldn't the speedometer not work?
