I have a 1984 Pontiac Fiero 2m4 with a blown motor. I also have a chevy 307 sitting in my shop and I want to put that into the fiero.
I need some advice on what modding I need to do in order to put the 307 into the Fiero. And can the Fiero 4 speed handle the v8? Need help ASAP

To swap in the V-8 you need an adapter kit. You can find one at www.v8archie.com

The 1984 4-speed is kind of weak. If you can find a 1985/1986 4-spd from a V-6 it would be better. I have a ZZ4 crate engine with the stock V-6 4-spd and have had no problems for 7 years.

I see alot of people putting g6 transmissions to a chevy 350. Are the transmission to engine bolt patterns the same on a 350 and 307?

Typically yes. But there have been some engines that are not.

Absolutely YES! The " 84 " standard was the ONLY year offered with the heavy duty Muncie M19 code featured a 4.10:1 ratio in third gear and a .73 overdrive. I know of several people and one locally with Chevy 350 and one a Chevy 383 Stroker and the trans held up fine. The economy trans for 1984 was the MY8 Code. Many Chevy V8 engines are attached to these and feature and less wild 3.68:1 third gear ration with fourth also a .73 overdrive. Here is a write up on the trans.

No it is not. The M19 is NOT the heavy duty transaxle. The M17 is.
The M19 has the 4.10:1 final drive which can be easily swapped into the stronger M17 case. Just look at each transaxle and you will see the M17 has the stronger case.
3.68 third gear ratio???
Third gear is 1.24:1 on all Fiero 4-spds.
