Hey,

I found this: http://www.rockauto.com/getimage/ge...m/smartpages/partinfo_resize/DUS/15-72443.jpg lying underneath the steering column just dangling near my pedals with both of the vacuum lines (red and yellow) connected, but the arm was disconnected. I was wondering if any of you guys could explain to me where the arm is supposed to be connected to, because I cannot seem to find where it needs to connect, I'm thinking a piece is even broken off. Any help would be appreciated!

that part is the climate control air inlet valve and I can not find an online description of how to replace it. Can you find a copy of a Chiltons or similar manual to see if they describe the replacement?

I wasn't able to find any information about it in the online Auto Zone repair guide for my vehicle. Is this part that elusive? Or at least repair info about it ?

I was unable to find online info either, look in a Chiltons or similar manual, local library may have a copy.

have you looked under the dash to see if there is an obvious bracket it should be connected to and the door it actuates?

This is the only thing listed in my Chiltons with "air inlet" in the name...

I'm not sure if that valve goes inside the case, which looks like the case is on top of the blower motor which is on the passenger side, under the dash.

I don't know because there is no obvious location and the piece was dangling underneath the drivers side dash near the pedals....

I actually believe the part I'm looking at is the mode valve actuator because the vent selector switch will change from feet and face vents together to Defrost but I cannot get just the Face vents or just feet vents to blow air. In that case do any of you guys know where it should go ? Or connect to ? With a more clearer image.

It's actually called a "Air Inlet Valve Actuator". I found it on oehq.com. The image below is for a 99.

Here is one from eBay I found for a 2000.

The mode valve actuator is a little bit different looking and is also pictured in the picture I posted.

I'm trying to find out where it goes but have had no luck so far.

So yeah here is an actual pic sorry guys I think I linked originally the wrong piece just because it looked similar....

Oh ok, that is the mode valve actuator then. Gotta go to the vet in a bit but I might look underneath my dash to see if I can see where it goes and also gonna check my chiltons book, but I doubt it'll have a listing for it.

Edit: Just got back home and looked under the driver side dash, didn't see anything but I'll look again later. Also, my Chilton's doesn't have a listing for it.

So then it's the mode valve actuator, does anyone have any idea on where it connects to regulate the vent movement?

I've done a little more digging around and it appears if somehow it attaches to the Evaporator Case? Inside which the vents that control airflow are located? I've only seen exploded diagrams though, and have no idea if that's where the actual Mode Valve Actuator belongs or even where to begin disassembling if needbe. I honestly have no idea.

In case anyone else was wondering, I found the mode valve actuator, it is tucked underneath the driver's side dash next to the heater case. To find it remove the little plastic flap near the center console cupholders underneath the steering column. I found this out the hard way only after ripping apart the entire dash, and found the mounting point. Took me 4 hours just to dismantle everything/pull the steering wheel. Finally I found the plastic piece anchoring it to the little hatch on the side of the heater/evap case was snapped off. After attempts with CA (Super glue), hot glue, zip ties, and 2 days later I finally got it to stick with a thin spread layer of Gorilla Super Glue, which flexes a little, which helps considering the piece is put under pressure. After that, I found out the plastic piece that holds the arm to the vent door that controls airflow was broken off too, so I tried epoxy, no go. Then I tried super glue, no go. Finally I managed to get it on, by drilling a hole in the vent door flap arm, and connected the actuator arm to the door with a zip tie. Whala. About 10 hours of labor and 3 days later I finally fixed a piece valued at $9.98!

thanks for the the update and sorry for all the grief it cost you
