Hi, could anyone explain to me what is the difference between single post mirror operation and dual post operation.

what year car are you referring to?
 
Not sure about what you mean by single post or dual post. I looked in the 2003 owners manual and that term is not used. You either have manual mirrors or power.

Yes, I know I wasnt able to google it either. when i called about new mirror they asked me if the mirror is dual post or single post. dont know what does it mean.

do you have a 2 door or a 4 door, a base model or GT? which side? Do you have the original mirror? How many posts mount it to the door?
 
The mirror construction is what is being referred to. The Alero had a "one piece" or solid mount, our Grand Am has 2 posts that come off the door. I believe they mount to the door the same from 2000 - 2004.

Here are some better photos. The 2 post mount is on my 2000 4 door, the single post is on a Grand Am I saw in a parking lot today. I still think they mount the same, I can not imagine there being differences in the door.
