My horn isn't working. When I press it, there isn't any noise. Not even the clicking you usually hear from the horn relay when the horn doesn't work. Does this mean that I need to replace the horn relay? If I do, where is the relay located? I know it's towards the passenger side of the car, but don't know where exactly.

I replaced the horn itself with a 10 dollar aftermarket one about a couple months ago. I didn't put it in the spot that the original horn is, I installed some new wire and placed it in another spot that is more accessible (I've done this with all my previous cars and had no problems).

1998 Pontiac Sunfire SE 2.4L

You did check the horn fuse? You dont see a relay in the box located in the engine compartment? Have you checked for power at the horn with a voltmeter?

Didn't see a fuse labeled horn but I checked them all anyway, and replaced all the fuses in the fuse box in the engine as well as about half of them in the fuse box located on the side of the dash. There's only 3 relay's in the fuse box in the engine, which is for the fuel pump, AC, and I forget the 3rd one.

after you replaced the horn was it working? Did you provide a good ground for the horn in it's new location? have you tried using the voltmeter at the horn connector?

Yeah it was working after I replaced it. The other week, I replaced my headlight switch and bumped the horn and it worked but now it's not. And yes it has a good ground.

I haven't tried the voltmeter yet cause I have no idea how to use mine.

I got to mine ('97 2.2) by removing the passenger side airbag...not sure if you can reach it under the foot-well though...leave the keys in the ignition, engine off with the drivers door open and follow the chimes, when you pinpoint the chimes you'll find the horn relay.

my 98 does the same thing but it still makes the clicking noise...do i just need to replace my horn?

I've replaced three horns before. Before I replaced them, all I heard was the clicking which is the horn relay. So, if you only hear clicking then it should be the horn that needs replaced.
