Headlamp problems

Ok so i have on 02 Grand am se and im having this problem. When i go to turn on the car the headlights should come on cause they are automatic,they dont, however when i put the vehicle in reverse or drive they come on also the fog lights dont work while the lights are on automatic neither do the gauges but when i put the lights on park or high beam they work.

Does anyone know what the problem is? And i know it is not the fuses because i checked them

That is normal operation. The DRL's dont come on in park. The fog lights will only work when the lights are in the on position.

The lights will not come on until you release the parking brake. Read page 2-44

The fog lights are off when you press the switch and the vehicle is set for low beam? The dimmer control for the dash lights is set for full brightness?

I think it must be a shortage in a wire or fuse because in the last day or so the automatic lights work fine when i start the vehicle up so do the fog lights but 5 minutes later when im driving down the road they shut off and i have to switch the lights to park so everything works.

Have you taken your vehicle into a dealership to have this concern looked at?

Headlight problems

yes i have my grandpa is a mechanic and he didnt find anything out of the ordinary.

You may have a relay that is overheating after a few minutes. Both the fog lamps and headlights use them and they are listed in the owners manual

I have a 99 Grand Am GT that just recently my Automatic Headlights went into the "high beam" mode. Therefore, not allowing my fog lights to come as they cut out when that happens. I tried changing out the bulbs to no avail, so anyone's help would be appreciated!
