This friday i'm thinking about ordering a cold air intake and a MPRACING tuned ecu/pcm.

i dont expect a huge increase in preformance but what am i likely to gain with the pair?

headers and catback are coming this feburary ;)

The exhaust changes will probably give you more of a HP increase than the other changes but doing them both will be the best way. Go by what the manufacturer claims for their product and then reduce it by 10% is just a guess. The only true way to tell is to find a local chasis dyno run it before and after the changes.

You could always build a CAI or FWI. Exhaust will help. You can get 3500 intake too

I'm buying a cheaper CIA for the tubing and a K&N cone filter from their site. So i suppose you could say im building my own CIA :) Once the exaust is on ill be doing some 1/4th n/a runs. hoping the basic bolt ons will get me under 15 seconds. we shall see!

also, what'dya think a 3500 top end would cost me and would i gain anything significant?

Looks like Mitzy offers 3500 upper intakes for 50$ and conversion kits for the 3400 base for 100$.

Well the idea for CAI is more air so why not. The gain wouldnt be too significant. Mitzy's port and polished? I bought a 3500 core engine from the junk yard for $200 delivered (my truck has 2 dry rotted flats :P) Anyway, if no other mods to the intake you can pick one up at the junkyard for 30 but we're starting to split hairs now. After you would be looking at cam and such for N/A and more speed.

After doing a bit more research and pondering on the subject i think i'm going to hold off on the tuned ECM until im finished with my mods. I'd like to get a 65mm throttle body, a 3500 Upper intake, the conversion kit and the full pace setter exaust (headers to tips).

Once ive got my hands on these parts THEN ill order the custom ECM.

I expect the the parts to run me about a grand, and ill have the extra cash
come tax returns!

to satisfy my need for speed i think i'll go ahead and get the cold air intake + K&N filter this friday.. pics to come :)

Unrelated:// I've got an inspection test this friday and the last thing i needed to do beforehand was change out my two front seatbelts. (looks like the previous owner's dog got to them or somthin' and they were all chewed up)

I was able to find 2 like new aftermarket 3 point seatbelt assembleys for 45 a pop and install them myself. You dont even want to know what the local dealership quoted me...:D

Im about due for new seatbelts at 196k. I think ill hit my junkyard. :p I also want one with a "stopper" so the steat buckle doesn't fall to the floor. Dyno the car before and after, I am curious what you get.

CAI came in today, took me an hr to get the ram air system off (limited tools + rain) and approx an hour to get the CIA together and installed properly.

The filter is hiding in the fenderwell which should keep it nice and cool.

I had to jimmy rig the vaccum hose that leads from the tubing to the rear valve cover. It didn't seem to want to reach where i needed it to go.

Duct tape and aqquarium tubing it is until i find the time to fabricate my own hose!

Looks nice, please let us know how it performs

50 mile update ~

This is currently the only preformance modfiication on my GAGT. It sounds great between 3-4k rpms and i'd like to think that the increased airflow has improved throttle response. I didn't expect much from the cold air intake, so i'm quite suprized and pleased.
