Recently my power windows stopped working, none work, up or down. This makes things difficult when I want to tell someone to go f themselves. Also, I noticed the lighting to my gear shift is also out. I was wondering if there is something I could try to fix myself before I take to a mechanic.

Full disclosure. I do not know much about cars, but am starting to notice a lot of issues with my 2003 Aztek. This is perhaps the most annoying.

Other issues. This morning a low engine oil light come on. The last time this happened I was told I had a crack underneath where the oil is held, forget what it was exactly. This hasnt been an issue for a couple of years. I am taking it for an oil change today.

There is a constant smell of antifireeze or oil burning when I get out of car. Whether I drive it around block or for miles, I will still smell this.

A couple of weeks ago when braking it felt like my anti-lock brakes were kicking in. This didnt happen all the time, but it was a little frightening. It would happen regardless of speed, and it appeared to be random. This has since stopped.

Some past issues since I've owned it. Replaced brake lights multiple times; had to fix wheel bearings after AWD disabled light was on.

I like my Aztek, but its getting expensive to maintain. I get the oil changed regularly and its inspected every year.

Concerning the windows, did you check for a blown fuse?
The gear shift is probably a burnt out bulb.
Did you check the oil level? Do you mean your oil pan is cracked?
Are you low on antifreeze, if not than going back to the other problem with the oil light you may be low on oil because you have the leak and the oil is hitting the exhaust causing a burning smell.

Concerning the windows, did you check for a blown fuse? I swapped out the fuse for the power seats ( which I dont have) with the power window fuse, and this did not fix the problem. I didnt buy new fuses though, will try that if you think its worth a shot. Also, when I hit the window button nothing happens, I dont hear the windows trying to work or anything. However the power lock button which is right below the window buttons on door panel work fine.

The gear shift is probably a burnt out bulb. I didnt know there was a bulb for my gear shift.

Yes it was the oil pan. I had the oil changed yesterday and was told my transmission fluid was bad too. Had that flushed along with the oil change. The low oil light is now off.

I cant figure out where the circuit breaker is. I swapped #35 and #11 fuses.

Check relay 27 and 33, if the same, switch them.

sorry for the delayed response will try this today and post results.

THANK YOU!!! Swapping relays fixed windows. I have to buy a new relay because after the swap my power windows worked but my windshield wipers do not.

One more question. Any idea what controls the lighting on my gear shift? It used to light up so I could see what gear I am in on both the gear shift itself and by the odometer.

The bulb in the shifter is probably burnt out.
