Gear oil Change

I'm thinking about changing the oil in the 5 speed gear box and using Royal Purple gear oil . I already use Purple Motor oil in my 88 GT with 21,000 miles. Any thought's?? Dennis
 
Do you have the owners manual and if so what was the recommended type of oil?
 
Thanks, that's what my thoughts were too! But was told that changing the gear oil in a car that's been around for over 25 years should be changed.

No I don't have a owners manual!! but just about every other paper ,book & stuff! Dennis PS THANKS for your help!
 
Yes, if you dont know if it has ever been changed, go for it, but does the Royal Purple meet the requirements stated in the article above?
