96 firebird engine swap

I have just bought a 96 firebird with a 3800 v6 series 2. I want to swap the motor out for either an lt1 or the supercharged 3800 ( entire motor, not just a top swap.) My question is, will the supercharged 3800 bolt to my transmission (5 speed manual) would I have to replace the fly wheel? Would it be easier to just get a 6 speed transmission and lt1? I like the supercharged motor for gas efficiency.

The engine block is the same for naturally aspirated and supercharged but where are you going to find a complete engine?

A stronger clutch will be needed for sure................................

And only one has been done , was extremly difficult, was a real pain from what I read. ( never again said the builder )

Turbo or bolt on Supercharger most people do..........................

I know almost all the super charged 3.8's are automatics. I want to know if I would need a new flywheel to attach the manual trans. ( with upgraded clutch of course

Autozone shows the same crankshaft for a 96 Firebid and a 2000 Grand Prix SC, based on that the flywheel should fit.

No, putting the FWD Supercharged 3800 V6 in is the one I listed the info on is above, the motor basicly will fit but with a ton of work, not for the faint of heart. ( more work than its worth ?) The V6 motor sits real low in the Firebird to start with, and you end up with the air inlet too close to the firewall ( backwards) Some used a ( Australian) Holden intake tube to get the sharp bend, or get air from inside the cockpit. Add to the mess of wiring and beltdrive stuff means it takes some work.

One guy named "Merlin" did the swap for $500, added a cam and run a 13.9 in the 1/4 mile with a 5 speed in 2007.

You make a good point. I forgot the inlet position on the super charged 3.8's. I will probably do an lt1 swap if I do a swap
