Hi I have an 84 fiero 4cyl. Its hard to start and when it does it idles high around 2000. I heard somewhere that when cranking and the oil pressure gets high enough it allows it to starts. What fixes this? Also I fixed all intake leaks I could fine but it still idles high. Ideas? Thanks.

no leaks from any vacuum hoses? no binding throttle linkage?

The throttle cable is worn but the valve closes all the way as it should. I'm more concerned about the hard starting than anything.

Check the IAC and clean if dirty. It controls idle.

Alright I'll try those, where is the oil pressure switch located? I cleaned out the IAC once before to no avail.

The oil pressure thing is if the fuel pump relay fails. If it does, when 10psi or so is reached while cranking, it fires the fuel pump.

That's what it was, the relay. I think I changed that before and it didn't help, what else could it be?

Thanks I'll check those out, anything else I should look out for?
