Upper door panel removal

Okay I just purchased a 73 Formula and am removing the interior. I have some manuals on the way but I want to start working on it now. Can someone tell me how to remove the upper door panel piece? I removed all the fasteners but I can't see how to remove the door latch handle and cup assembly so I can remove the upper panel.

Hmmm... my door latch cup does not have any type of screw securing it to the door panel. This video may be for another model but does not appear to work for a 73 Firebird.

Any other thoughts?

take a picture of the cup it may have a plastic cover hiding the screw
post the picture here try and pull the handle out some so you get a good picture.

Scroll down on the second link and you will see the hole clearly you will have to pull back on the handle to see and remove the screw.

looks like it has a after market stick on cover over top the original cup that was scratched up look close you will see the end of the black cup liner
try to carefully pry the black part up with something plastic, if it does not give feel with your finger to see if you can sense the hole under this liner

if none of this is making sense for what your seeing, tug on the chrome outer part with your fingers with the handle open and see if it is solid feeling to the door.or if the door panel pulls out slightly with the chrome cup while tugging gently

no problem, GM I guess made that part much simpler after 1973 and made it one piece.
I was expecting the cover but I was thinking it was a aftermarket stick on cover not a factory two piece unit.

Cool I am glad you figured it out.
Perhaps I could talk you into making a new thread and title it, 1973 Firebird inside door handle cup removal procedure. and post the pictures you took.

This way it will be easier for other 1973 owners to find this thread.
