Hey, got another question for you guys.
At the moment, my power locks switches don't do anything, that can be either a wire harness under the passenger seat, or the switches being dirty, but that's a different question for later.
What I'd like to know, now, is whether or not it's possible to change the setting where when I lock the door using my key, the locks, lock.
See, I want to try and set it so that when I unlock using my key, all doors unlock.
The locking is convenient, since the switches aren't doing anything, but being able to unlock like that, too, would be awesome.
If I can't change that setting at all, well thank you guys anyway :)

I may be wrong . I thought if you unlock the drivers door and hold the key in the unlock position all the doors would unlock. I will check my HHR and see what happens when doing this.

Explanations of all functions should be found in the owners manual, perhaps someone will send you a link to the needed pages in the meantime.

Please post year make and model when asking questions, doing so makes it easier to help you.

Here is a link where you can download a copy of the owners manual for your 2002 Montana.

I dislike having to search previous post to find out what year car we are trying to help people with.

There are way too many people here that we help to remember each and every car every member owns.

If you do not want to type this information every time put it in your signature.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter .

Yes you can operate all the locks just with the key this is covered in section 2-7

Power Door Locks
From the inside, press the front of the power door lock
switch (on either front door) to unlock all doors and the
liftgate. With the content theft-deterrent system, the
power door lock switch will not unlock the doors until
the system is disarmed. See “Content Theft-Deterrent”
in the Index for more details.
You can lock all doors and the liftgate from the inside by
pressing the rear of the power lock switch on either front
door. With the content theft-deterrent system, the power
door lock switch may cause the system to arm. See
“Content Theft-Deterrent” in the Index for more details.
To unlock any door or the liftgate from the outside with
your key, turn the key toward the front of the vehicle
and release it. This will only unlock that door or the
liftgate. To unlock all the doors and the liftgate at once,
insert the key into the key cylinder, then turn it toward
the front of the vehicle and hold it for one second.
With power door locks, you can lock all the doors from
the outside by inserting the key and turning the key
toward the rear of the vehicle.
Also, when the doors are locked with the power door
locks, the inside as well as the outside door handle
cannot open the doors. This safety feature prevents
a door from being accidentally opened from the inside
by moving the handle.
To override this safety feature, unlock the door you want
to open.
When the liftgate has been unlocked with the power
door locks, you won’t need the key to open it. Simply
squeeze the handle located above the license plate.
This is also true if you use the remote keyless entry
transmitter. See “Remote Keyless Entry System” later in
this section

My apologies Outlaw >.< I didn't mean to make things difficult, I just had a brain fart while typing that out. I'll take your suggestion and sig it.
And I'll try that trick tomorrow too.
Thank you for the link, as well

If your locks do not operate like this, and you do not have the " Content Theft-Deterrent system " you will need to diagnose and repair the power lock system.

when your ready to tackle that job feel free to ask away.

I included the page that explains the lock system that your wanting to reprogram.

Just tried, seems I'm not allowed to make a signature. The option just isn't there. I'll have to remember to list make/model and year every time then

Maybe melsg5 may pipe in and let us know if we can use signatures, this forum seems to be a streamlined version of other forums I have been on.

I guess we will wait and see

to either one of you
On the top blue bar you should see on the left side "User CP" click on it
You should then see a number of options on the left including "Edit Signature"
Please let me know whether or not you see this and if it works, it worked for me, see post below.
Thanks.
