“Cruise” and high idle

My 2003 will feels like it is in’s cruise control when it isn’t. As I’m driving down the road and let off the gas it, sometimes, will keep the speed right there. Checked to make sure cruise was off and as I brake and let off the brake it continues to slow down.

Additionally, increasingly there are times when I put it into park and it is idling much higher, like around 2400 when usually the idles at around 1000. Have to turn it off and that usually resets it.

Assuming you have no check engine light on it sounds like a problem with the idle air control valve, IAC.

So if something else occurs you wont know it because of the previous code turning the light on.
The engine computer will not function correctly if you ignore the errors.
