Hi my 2000 grand am been having trouble turning over and starting the past few week. The battery is good. So that's not the issue. And now I went to start it and it won't turn over at all. Does anyone know what it could be. Had no knocks or nothing.
All my lights come on and radio works fine and everything. Before now for a few weeks it would turn over and start but really slow. But sometimes it started just fine. But I bought a crank position sensor also cause it cranked over quit a bit before starting.
As mel asked, how do you know the battery is good? Just because all the lights come one doesn't mean you have a good battery. It not only needs enough volts but it also has a CCA rating (cold cranking amps). Anyway which crank sensor did you replace? Which engine do you have?
How old is the battery? It's a 3400 then? That sensor is in fun spot! I take it you have some experience with it then if you know the location? That sensor is the one that is directly responsable for ignition-it measures the crankshaft.
Yes I am. Its not the battery cause I tried the brand new one out of my truck and still won't turn over. So now I am gonna have the starter tested. And change that sensor. Got the car on a hoist so makes everything a little easier lol
Lucky you lol I just literally pulled my engine out with my hands-rebuilding it and I don't have an engine hoist. Yea have that starter tested-what about taping it? So is it just clicking?
Yeah starter is bad. No the car would do anything. And had to happen at a gas station at that. It started to turn over and then nothing. But got the starter tested and its bad. So it's a easy fix thank god
