01 cd stereo to monsoon.

i was wondering how hard is it to upgrade my 01 grand am cd player to a monsoon stereo. could it be done and what steps do i take. also what about going to aftermarket stereo. just tired of the same cd all the time. the stereo has a aux button on it but were is the aux plug in on the cd player. please help me out. if i could get the aux to work i would be happy.
 
okay understand the aux button. lol. what about putting a monsoon system in like the factory gm ones.

who cares were i find it. can it be done. i guess junk yard. not going to get one till i know it is good to go. why waste money.
 
yes it can be done asuming you can find a car with all the components, radio, harness, speakers, any additional amps, etc.
 
sounds like it is not that easy as plug in and go. would my current wire harness not work? do you have to match certain serial #s.
 
Youd have to either get a copy of the factory wiring diagrams to look for differences or do lots of research at a site like www.gmpartsdirect.com. The factory radios have an antitheft device to prevent people from stealing a radio and placing them in other cars, this feature has to be reset by a dealer.

Seems like a good solution for you but read all the fine print about compatibility and if necessary contact the manufacturer.
