Have a 2001 sunfire that started running very rough yesterday.
It starts with no issues, but has a 'puttering' sound at low rpm.
This puttering gets a little worse as it move up in rpms but then disappears.
The engine light and TC light are on. The engine light goes from solid state to flashing every 10 seconds or so.
It does sound like it isn't running on all cylinders (it is the 2.4L engine).
With my foot on the brake, putting it into drive or reverse I can hear a ticking sound coming from the engine bay that disappears when I put it into park.
Fluids appear to be ok.
Can someone assist in what direction I should begin checking for faults? Are there any write ups on the forum?
Not sure if this is related, but in the last month it has been acting strange. After starting, it would make clicking noises in the dash, then the service light would come on. However, if the car was restarted, this would not happen. (Only on cold starts)
The high beams stopped working, and if you attemped to turn them on, all the exterior light in front would go off (as if it was in 'stealth' mode).
