02 grand am help please

I have an 02 grand am 2.2L ecotec engine. Its been giving me problems where it randomly shuts off, and sometimes takes a half hr of trying to get it to restart. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to diagnose this issue? Any help is greatly appriciated

Do you have a check engine light on? Can you do a fuel pressure test? When it doesnt start can you determine if you have spark at the plugs? It could be a bad ignition switch but without testing it's just a guess.
