Hello,

I have a major pain in the @ss key off power drain that has been sucking the life out of my new battery. It started about 3 days ago when I was leaving work after a 11hr day and all I got was a very slow turnover then dead. So I had it jumped and I was on my way. I charged the battery to full and tested it and the alternator both good.

I thought maybe leaving my cell phone charging all day must of killed it, though doubtful. I went with that explanation and the next day I went out to check on her at lunch an she started right up so I didn't think anymore of it and when it was time to go I got the same slow turnover and then dead. I had it jumped again and I was on my way, but I knew something was draining it though nothing obvious as I had nothing on or plugged in so I did a keyoff battery drain test with my multi-meter and got a 1.01 ma with nothing on no lights nothing, made sure of it.

I started pulling fuse by fuse and the meter wasn't budging and was out of fuses to pull. I tested the one under the hood and the one on the driverside with no change so I gave up.

I took the car later that day to the gas station and my wife hit the passenger side door lock switch and the car just died. It started back up with no issue so I hit the switch again and same result so I took the car home tried a 3rd time and it didn't happen this time so I got in the car with all the lights off and engine off pulled both door switches on LH & RH it's a 2dr and I measured the wire harness going into the lock button on both sides and I'm getting a .90 from both sides.

I'm not sure what to do as I thought it was the switch, but this reading looks high to me when the car is off. If this is true what should it be reading and do u think there is a short in the lock wiring?

Thanks Guys.

I made a mistake on my previous readings above, correct are .101 at battery and .091 from the locks.

melsg5, I wasn't sure the grounds were clean so sense you brought it up I removed both cleaned them and put them back, but no change in readings. I have work tomorrow and I'm very worried so I went looking for the fuse from the RH &LH inside panel, but after removing every fuse one by one I saw no change which is odd.

I must also report I've had an old P0420 code trip which I haven't had the $$ to fix yet so that light been on, but this morning that light and the security light were on solid so I shut the car off started it back up and both lights were gone!! I'm really worried now....

Oh I forgot RAP seems to work fine it will shut the dome light and radio off after alittle time.
