02 no start no turning over nothing lights work

Can you restate the syptoms went through the post and unsure. I did not like your battery reading droping to 11.7 have you had the battery load tested at a parts store/shop? I would recheck the connectors to the igniton switch/security sensor. The neutral safety can be jumped temporarily, do you have the wiring diagram?

No wiring diagram. Also where is the security sensor to take a look at?

Your going to love this.

Anyhow go out to the barn to push the car in. So I try and start it. Starts right up. Pulled it inside and put a code reader on it just in case. Nothing.

So I started it about 8 different times at different intervals. Started every time.

The theft security light works like normal and has never blinked on and off etc. I was thinking something to do with that maybe. But I am clueless.

Ideas, because I'm scared that my boy is going to end up stuck somewhere sometime.

The sensor on the lock cylinder is what I was referring to. Check the connector to make sure none of the contacts look bent or corroded. I would also recheck that battery to make sure it's not on the verge of failure, that 11.7 was very low and can have impact on the computer properly functioning.

The 11.7V, is that with the car off? Cause shouldn't it be around 12.5V-12.8V with the car off and 13.5V-14.5V with the car idling?

With it being 11.7V, wouldn't that be a good indication to look at the alternator and see if it's good and charging the battery properly?

Car was not running and no alternator was involved.

Car was OFF not running or starting and was 12.?? with key off and turn key to start but DID NOT start or engage starter and dropped to 11.7 when OFF with key in run start position.

Hope that is clearer to understand.

It is clear, it should not be dropping to 11.7. A bad battery or alternator can do weird things in cars that depend on computers to start/run.

Finally closure.

Started the car about 20 plus times before it finally done it again today and wouldnt start. While my dad was in town I had him help me test it.

1. I checked all the connections to ignition and sensor. Checked the same to neutral switch. Seemed all good
2. checked power to crank relay and clicking too. Seemed all good
3. check for power to the solenoid. good too
4. still no start. tried tapping on solenoid with small hammer while key was in start position. BINGO car started.

Replaced starter and solenoid. Good to go.

Starter solenoid was what I was hoping it was in beginning, but being it would start after setting over night that had threw me off.

Thanks for the ideas and I learned alot on stuff I didnt know about.

Excellant glad you got it fixed.

Tested battery after fix. 12.7v when not running no key on, then during starting with starter engaging it goes to like 10.8v very quickly (all do this that I have tested) then right up to 13.8v-14v while alternator is charging.

Just so the info is there for others.

Thanks for info.
I have a 2000 that won't start somethimes but when it doesn't start my security light stays on on solid. I tries ignition switch. Not sure if its starter or the lock cyclinder.
I was thinking about getting this.
