I noticed after heavy rains we had last weekend that all of my schoolwork that i left in the trunk was drenched, it also did this before. I decided to investigate and noticed water on the inside of the back window. I also noticed that the rear door seals )above door frame) aren't even glued down or something. I duct taped holes in the trunk seal. Any ideas? i was thinking about a foam sealant or something like that because i think it also leaks from the top of the back window

any automotive parts store carries weatherstrip sealant used for gluing the rubber to metal

post pictures of the known or suspected water leaks along with pictures of repairs you have attempted.

I havent tried any repairs yet (college and work takes all my time) but melsg5 has the right idea. Water stays out of the cabin except on the bottom of the rear window. But a few months ago i found .5in of water pooled in spare tire well. I patched holes in the trunk seal with duct tape, inspected everything to try and figure it out.

find a volunteer or yourself, place the person in the trunk with a flashlight, and run a water hose over one area at a time to spot the source

i found a volunteer to spray water while im inside, but my mechanic mentioned that the cavs and sunfires have a tendency to leak from the tail lights, the ones on my sfire, someone thought it would be funny and break the coroners of all the lights. I will find out and see, if it is from the tail lights how hard is it to remove the ones on it now and get other ones that aren't broken? oh im talking about the plastic by the way

well i hope thats not the case but if it is, the video is super informative thanks!

i am sorry i have to revive this thread once again, but i have finally found the leaks, 3 different sections of the trunk seal leaks at a steady pace, the taillight leaked from the rear i cant explain where, i patched up the taillight leak (i think) and patched up one of the trunk seal leaks with a silicone adhesive. I had to rip out all fabric from the trunk (mold and mildew allergy) i also drilled drain holed in the trunk floor (where rubber thing is). so my question is should I get a whole new seal or just patch the rest of the holes?

I found a part (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-p...e-trim/2-2l-l4-gas-engine/body-cat/trunk-scat) it is number 3, is this the right part ( i have a 2002 se 4door)

For under 50 bucks replace the seal.
Yes it appears to be the correct part.
You will want to plug off the drain hole you drilled once the leaks are fixed.
If you cannot find the leak on the tail lights just replace them.

That sounds like a good idea, is it difficult to replace the seal or is it just a quick install, i did find the taillight leak but it is hard to describe where it is so i will give my best shot, it is on the rear coroner of the trunk, there is a strip of rubber like sealant and it was leaking from there.
