I installed an aftermarket radio in my girlfriends 03 Aztek. I did it the old fashioned "cut the plug off" method, which I later regretted doing, but have everything wired up properly now. I had to take the accessory wire from the new deck to the fuse box where I wrapped it to the windshield wiper fuse. The deck now turns on when the car is started, however I get no sound from the speakers. I thought that maybe that fuse wasn't the best choice to I took the wire to the radio fuse instead, not knowing that that was a constant fuse. This caused the radio to turn on and the speakers to start working. I figured it was just a hiccup so I took the accessory wire back to the windshield wiper fuse and turned the car on. No sound from the speakers again. I am assuming that since it works on constant power (sometimes I need to manually turn the new deck off and then on again to get the sound to come through the speakers) that it is causing a short in a factory amp somewhere in the car. This is obviously not an adequate solution to my issue. Firstly, this will no doubt burn up the aftermarket decks built in amp and I'll have to junk it. Secondly, the deck stays on constantly, which would cause me to have to jump start her car every morning. Also not a viable solution :). I have found 2 possible locations for the amp via google (behind the drivers side dash next to the steering column, and next to some speakers that apparently don't exist on her model of the Aztek.) Has anyone experienced this issue before or know another location where a factory amp could be. I would like to bypass the amp to try to get the speakers working when they're supposed to be.

If you wired it correctly to the original harness why do you have this extra "accessory" wire? Did the radio come with instructions?
