03 Heater core

I have changed one in a 03 Montana, there are no real short cuts in taking out the heater core.there are a lot of screws and bolts.you pretty much have to take everything apart.depending what your skill level is it should take up to 4-5 hours.

and what kind of connectors are on the heater hoses? I thought some kind of quick disconnects.

I take it your cooling system issue was not a head gasket but is the heater core?

No it was the head gasket #2 cylinder exhaust breech, the steel seal was so good at sealing the gasket it appears it is sealing up the heater core!

well thats not good, did you try contacting the manufacturer of Steel Seal if they have had reports of this occuring? you are definitely not low on coolant?

Not low on coolant, I will call them later, plus I have to check my dampers first before I do anything.

Well it turns out to be the damper/blend door not letting airflow through the duct work, it was limiting the flow, with the help of this post below I was able to disconnect the linkage and move the damper/door lever all the way up and this little trick doubled(or more) the amount of air flow. so now I have better heat due to the flow. I thought I had good heat but didn't have the flow. So for now I'm satisfied as long as the head gasket repair holds.

sounds alot better than having to change the core
