04 sunfire Weird vibrations

I just purchased a o4 sunfire sport. I noticed when driving home when you start to hit about 45 i get a vibration in the car and it doesnt stop when going faster only slower. I assumed it was the tire balance but it isnt that. Along with the vibration at 65 the rpms sit around 2500-2600 and at 70 they are at 3000. Speed limit here is 75 on freeways and doing 75 im pushing around 3200.

So im assuming the vibration is coming from the tranny. Would the tcc cause these problems? The vibration is like being in a truck with brand new swampers on it and it hums like that too.
 
you eliminated the wheels by having them rebalanced? Have you checked wheel bearings and CV joints?
 
Yeah they were balanced and i had it aligned before purchasing it. I havnt checked the bearing and the cv joints. The cv joints arnt clicking when turning right or left.

Im still leaning towards the tranny cuz of the rpm issue along with it.
 
it's not clear to me what you think is an RPM issue. The RPM's you list and the speeds sound about right.

its a 4 speed auto they have overdrive dont they? So at 65 i should be around 21-2200 not 25 and above. My 97 sites right at 21 at 65.
 
and you checked that they both have the same final drive ratio and tire diameter which would effect the RPM readings for comparison purposes?

Yup it's the wheel bearings/hub units er whatever they are called. Just replaced a bad one on the front and the noise/vibrations only come from the back of my car so will replace next weekend....lol

Replace the ones you think are bad and problem should be solved.

when doing bearings or parts of the same nature, you wanna replace them all, not just the one. mainly cuz chances are good that if one is going, the others arent far off

I agree totally, but some of us live pay check to pay check so dishing out 1000 bucks or more in one shot is not easy. Im fixing my car a lil every week.

Now front right ball joint, rear wheel bearings, rear strut/shock package and fix a few leaks and she will be like new:)
 
funny cuz im living pay check to pay check too.. after all, im only 22.. and all in all, if bearings are bad, dont drive it. it will likely leave you stranded somewhere. if i had this issue, she'd be parked until i could afford to fix it properly. safety before convenience.

No no no it's not THAT bad man...lol

Back right bearing/hub is making some noise when I drive, but it's not gunna fall off this week. My front right ball joint looks pretty damn new(just got the car 3 months ago), but it looks to be a really LOW end part so the wheel has a lil play to it....but again I highly doubt it will fail this week.

Also if I didn't use my car I would have no way to get to work.......YA DIG?:D
