I switched from 14x6 to 15x7 rally 2's for my 69 lemans/ gto conversion.
What's the largest tire I can run in the rear?
Front?
Good points and bad points of tire size selection?

on my 71 GTO I have 235x60x15 in front and 245x60x15 in rear, i have seen larger in the rear. With the front you have to be careful at full lock that you dont rub fender or sway bar if you go larger than the 235. In the rear with a 7 inch wheel wouldnt recommend going past the 245, maybe a 255 would make it.

So 275 60 15 would be to big in the rear?

I have a chance to pick up a brand new set but they are 275's for rear and 235's for front...

that has a section width of almost 11", measure first

May sound like a stupid question.....

What am I measuring? Rim width? Diameter? Wheel well opening?

Frame to quarter panel ( wheel well opening) measure with your current wheel on the car also. ( both sides)
I've run 31 x10.5 x15's truck tires on the rear of 1978 and up GBodies so it should fit on your older car, measure twice to be sure.........

no, since finding 15" tires is becoming more difficult.

at this point 17 tires are the way to go if you want to modernize the car and not deal with the scarcity of 15 tires. There maybe two tires to choice from in 15, Cooper and BF Goodrich. Depends on your budget for wheels/tires.
