I own a 1967 Pontiac Tempest LeMans 2 door hardtop that I'm planning to restore.

I'm looking for a specific exterior body part that I don't know the proper name for.

It's the piece between the roof skin and the quarter panel.

It forms the "tunnel-back".

Can anyone educate me?

It's called the sail panel

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

Is it only available as part of a full quarter panel?
Or as a separate item?

Original Parts Group have discontinued the full panels.
Ames Performance Engineering is out of stock, and has no idea when they will have the full quarter panels again.
Unless I'm missing a supplier, everyone else only sells the main and lower panels.

this is what one of the major body parts manufacturer stated
Unfortunately no one offers just the sail panel separately. The only thing we offer that could be used to repair is the full quarter panel for a '66-67 Chevelle 2-door hardtop. The sail panels are basically the same on both cars, so the Chevelle quarter sails could be used to repair the GTO sails...obviously the area where it meets the belt line may be different and modified. We also offer the roof skin which fits both cars which has a little bit of the sail panel included (the upper section) and the upper rear window opening. This would be the only way to repair the GTO quarter in this area unless you find a good donor car and cut it up. We are looking at making the GTO full quarters but the cost to make them is huge and they are different '66 and '67 which doubles the cost of the project. I know the quarter skins we offer are a weak reproduction but that is the only panel available for the cars on the market at this time.
