I have a 1967 Pontiac lemans convertible. How do I know if the motor is original to the car?? I pulled the motor today and on the front passenger side above the water pump had some numbers. What do I match them up to to see if it's original???

The next question is what paint do I use under the hood. The firewall inner fenders ect??? Since I have the motor out I am going to replace all the ball joints ect. What paint color do i use on the A arms ect. I think it's all satin black but not 100%. I am going for a clean factory look. I want to show her some love. Pull it apart, degrease everything, and do her some justice. No motor for now means I can get to everything.

Thanks for your help in advance. :)

1. The pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head should have the last 6 digits of the VIN and the engine code should have a code that matches what was available for that vehicle.
2. Satin black sounds correct for under the hood. Check the catalogue at www.amesperf.com for paint colors to be sure.
