1968 Stock Grill Color

The PO of my 68 had blacked-out the grill. I’ve never thought it matched the character of the car and painting it has always been on my to-do list. Yesterday after removing the lower valance to gain access to the horns, I kept going and removed the bumper and grill inserts. I had a spray can of argent silver waiting and now they’re silver. So all that said, my question is this: I’ve been all over the internet looking at 68 LeMans grills. Some appear to have a black background in the egg-crate area and only the horizontal bars are silver. Some appear to be all silver. Does anyone know or have a photo of a known stock grill? TIA!

Still not definitive but it sure looks like only the bars are argent. I guess I can mask it and paint the background black, then go back to all silver if I don’t like it.

I went with a black background and left the horizontal bars argent. Not sure if this is factory but it’s representative of what I saw in print ads, and I like it.
