looking to put a 1972 front end on a 1980 trans am..what do i need to complete:confused: this make over? thanks

Yes it can be done and I would not even think of attempting it unless you already have donor pieces from a 70-73 Bird. I would use solid original parts over aftermarket imported metal. You will need the radiator support, nose, bumper, hood and all the brackets that go with it. After market fenders will work, but the ones I have seen need the front flange altered to accept the early nose. An entire front clip would be the best, which is why I think you would need a parts car. Right now the 70-73 cars are in very high demand because there are fewer survivors and donor cars available. After market parts are abound, however plan on spending $$$. For example, just last year I found a radiator support for my 76 (1970-1976 use the same one piece support while 77-81 is a 3 piece.) I paid $150 and need to strip it down entirely, but it is solid original complete out of a 75. The same day, the seller had 3 other guys from around the country looking at it and wanting it. They are in very high demand.
That said, good luck on your ambitions and post some pictures of the swap.

Thx..I have the original nose, valance and hood front a 72,Can i use my stock fenders on my 1980? wasn't sure it i needed the rad support..

Your stock fenders will work fine. You may have to modify a bracket when installing the nose. I can't remember if that was 1972 or 1973 though. It's not a big deal, this modification has been done by many people for years.
