Hi, I have a 1970 lemans with a floor shifter. I'm pretty sure it's not the right one for the car. It doesn't line up with the hole in the floor and is difficult to shift and I want to get the right one for the car. Does anyone know if there are other years or models that use the same floor shifter. Thanks

which transmission is in the car?
In your second sentence you say you are pretty sure its the right one for the car.
In the next sentence you state you want to get the right one for the car. So what is in the car now, please provide a picture.

Sorry I corrected my mistake. I just got the car and was told that it's the wrong floor shifter in it and the way the cable mounts, it has to make a hard bend making it harder to shift into different gears. I need to find the right one for it but was wondering if they used the same shifter in different years.
Right now there is a th2004r trans in it that needs to be changed out for a 350 trans. That's next on the list lol

well there never was any kind of 4 speed automatic available in 1970.
Why would you be going from a 4 speed to a 3 speed?
Which transmission are you trying to find a shifter for, the 4 speed or the 3 speed?
For the 3 speed any Pontiac shifter from 1967 to at least 1972 for a 3 speed will fit.
If all you need is the correct cable contact this company

Yeah this transmission didn't come in the car, someone put it in along the way. But it is slipping in third gear. If these transmissions aren't set up right with the correct tv cable, you'll burn up the transmission, and that's what happened with this one. I want to go back to a th350 which is what it came with. I was told it's not the right floor shifter in the car and I need to know if they used the same floor shifter in other years or models to make it a little easier to find one

Ok thanks a lot, I appreciate the help
