1971 pontiac lemans frigidaire ac compressor question

there is a 3 wire lock hooked to a relay or switch mounted to the compressor mounts which has a black wire going to the compressor pump and brown wire to the ac clutching a green wire in th center which has 12 volts the numbers on it are

1892009
3V53001

Are you referring to a thermal limiter, see link below, a picture would help.

I'm asking if the picture matches what you have, does it?
I have a 1971 GTO, original family ownership and it does NOT use one.
 
Is your car a 6 cylinder?
That is the only application shown using a thermal limiter the number as of 1983 was 6556440
 
I'm the second owner of a 1972 Lemans with the factory Frigidaire A6 compressor, and it has one. the socket it goes in is clipped to the top rear bracket that you use to adjust the pulley belt tension on the AC compressor. I always keep a bunch of spares in the front ashtray. They used to be less than $2 each 40 years ago. You should be able to find a replacement for about $10 at an auto parts store. It won't be new old stock though. The usual reason they blow is the Refrigerant level is too low.
