Hey all, I'm going to have to buy a new (or remanufactured, or even old and rebuild myself) a Carburetor for my 1972 Luxury LeMans. It's got a 4bbl Quadrajet on it now, and the only reason I don't want to refurb it is because it's missing so many pieces. Someone took a hacksaw to it or something, it's missing the choke cover (it's got the coil in it, but doesn't work) lots of the linkage is gone, including the transmission step down and the vacuum and linkage to open the secondaries. Since they don't sell these new, nor really for a pontiac (I called Jegs and Summit and they sell them for Chevy applications) What's the best way for me to go about obtaining one that is whole? I don't think that the 4bbl is stock, I think it came with a 2, but the intake is for a 4 now, so I'd like to keep it that way if possible. I think I'd prefer to keep the quadrajet, but other suggestions are welcome as well.

Thanks!
Chris

I guess that's a part of my problem. I don't even know what all mine is missing, I guess I'd have to look at a complete one and then figure out what pieces are missing. I reckon I ought to do some research to see if I can figure out if it's replaceable stuff, the one on there now is just missing so much.

I, too, looked at the Summit Racing ones, and the guy told me they were made for chevies so had a 90 degree fuel inlet, so I'd have to modify the fuel line to fit it, but should be fine. Only reason I'm thinking of not going that route is I read somewhere that the ones calibrated to the chevies didn't work as good as the q'jets calibrated for pontiacs. I just didn't want to run into trouble.

I'll see if I can figure out everything I need and see if one of those 2 links has them, if so, I should be good to go. the engine runs smooth as silk, but the carb being all boogered up really gives it trouble.

Thanks!

a close up set of pictures of the carburetor might help, front, back, each side
