I need a new set. What would you suggest? I want the same as original or a bit stiffer. I loved how my first 73 GA cornered, the one I have now feels like you are on a wavey boat ride.

As for new tires. I'm thinking BF Goodrich Radial T/A. They're kind of classic.

Thanks for your input. I ended up getting AC Delco Gold shocks from RockAuto. I don't know enough about the KYB or Bilstein and did not feel like doing more research. I liked the stock ride on my first 73 GA.

Haven't decided on tires yet. Firestone Destination LE3 ($163) have white outline "FIRESTONE" in their classic script and the 'F' shield logo. They also cost less than the BFG's ($183, that's +$100 for five tires), have a T (118 mph) speed rating vs S (112) for BFG, UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grading) of 700 A-B vs 400 A-B (43% less), and have a 70k warranty. I'm not sure what I'd be paying the extra $20/tire for with BFG. I can't even find how many miles they are warranted for. BUT, BFG and Cooper Cobras ($149, 40k, T, 440 A-B) do not have black embossed gobbledygook on the sidewalls compared to Firestone and others (tire model, knurling in the rubber, etc.). BFG and CC would shine up nice!

I also see General Altimax RT45 (T, 600 A-B) have the OWL lettering, are good to 75k, and are cheaper yet ($135). The car came with Generals from GM.

So yeah, I can be kind of indecisive... Aesthetics are important, the car has just over 50k original miles and I'm second owner. It has been my garage queen since 2006, but with new shocks and tires I plan to start hitting some cruise nights next summer. I figure any of the tire brands mentioned will do the job, so I might as well have tires that look good, right? I prefer white outline lettering vs solid white letters, but the clean black sides on the BFG and Cobras are drawing me in. Their downside compared to the Firestone is tire warranty. I hate spending more for something rated to last 20k less miles. On the other hand, I'll loose more tread leaving posi marks on the road than driving miles. Or maybe that's why I need the longer tread life?

Still open to other suggestions or opinions. You're a bunch of Pontiac aficionados, tell me what you think would look best on this classic coupe.
