Hello all,new to forum.I am looking at a 1977 firebird trams am.It has 4000 miles,2000 miles was done on 1/4 mile track. It has a roll bar & frame has been welded to keep it from twisting. Body is perfectly straight. The engine was taken out & larger engine installed for racing. It has a Muncie 4 speed all this was done at a dealer ship in Canada from day one, they sponcered the car.It has been sitting for years and only recently pulled out & put 2000 road miles were put on it.I do not think the engine in it now is # matching, but is a 400TA 6.6.No T tops, base model sport coupe, built in norwood. The body is perpect,no rust what so every.Interior very good.Paint very good. Can someone please give me a value of this car?

Mel will tell you where to find the book value , but if you have documentation from the dealership then it might add a little more value.

Missing all the original stuff hurts value, plus the added on racing equipment and modifications to the body does too.

Pictures of the racing and of the mods showing the dealer doing the work helps with history. People do buy old dealership race cars.

Never will be a Barrett-Jackson type sale.

So it was a Trans Am, now it is a highly modified car with a non-original drivetrain so you have to take that into consideration when looking at the price guides.

If engine # match, what would be the value ?A ball park figure? The owner is firm at $11,000

I think $11K is a good price even if it is not a matching # as long as it is a running car with no major maintenance requirements.

There is also an issue with the trans.Non original owner says that it came from factory with auto trans & now has 4 speed. What does this do to value if so? On the build sheet does the symbol [less than] next to options mean with or without the option marked with this symbol?

It means you dont have at matching numbers car and it is considered a driver and will never be seen as a collectible. So if you want a car for that purpose and it is mechanically sound the price is good.
