1979 Firebird Esprit Airbags

Hey, I'm in the process of buying a 1979 Firebird Esprit as a project car. Does anyone know if it would be possible to install a 2008 Pontiac g8 steering wheel and airbag system?

The airbag system other than being mechanically different preventing installation is also part of a complex computer systems consisting of many sensors, so the answer is no.
