I'm brand new to the forum and am looking for anyone with history, memories, pictures of a very heavily customized and supercharged 1979 Trans Am named Showtime. It was built in the early 80's in the Miami area and has recently been pulled from storage. It is blue with multiple airbrushed accent colors and etched windows. It features a one of a kind front end from a 1980 Corvette and head/parking lights from a Grand Prix. The name Showtime is prominently airbrushed on the doors.

Thanks all!!

I know that funny car and while they both share the same name, the one I'm talking about is a "normal" TA that has been customized in true 1980's style. I'm brand new to the forum so I don't think I can post pictures yet.

1979 "Showtime" Trans AM

I owned that car from 1988 through 1991. I drove it all over Southeastern Michigan and throughout Michigan to car shows. It was also in a movie called "Nasty Hero" in the late 80's. I have many photos and my dad has some videos of it from car shows. I sold it to someone who lived in Warren, Michigan I believe.

I purchased the car through Southern Motors in Pontiac, Michigan. I rebuilt the blower, carbs, timing system, removed the remnants of the A/C system, installed switches on the dash for the ignition and did some interior work.

The car was in a magazine that I gave to the person I sold it to. I have many photos of the car as well as a few trophies and plaques it won in Michigan.

There are a few people in Michigan that have scars on the backs of their calfs/legs from exiting the car and not respecting the hot, chrome side pipes on the car. That car had the loudest blower whine of any blower I had ever seen or heard.

I would love to see current photos and I will send photos from when I owned the car.

Here is the car and me circa 1988/1989.

That is one crazy cool car, Back then many people ran gear to gear timing gears that most likely added to the whine. If it had a gear to gear timing set

showtime ta

We owned showtime in 09 for about 6 mos. ole car still ran good. I paid 14500 for it to someone in Mich. I think. Sold it for 16500 or so at the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge Tn. I have a ton of pics. It was fun to drive and sounded good. But it wouldn't outrun my car hauler! but it was cool.

thanks for the post
