1981 Trans am

I have a 1981 Firebird with a chevy 350 so pretty much a 81 Trans am. but any way. the car is not getting and power to the distributer. when i turn the key on it will not crank over or anything. my headlights and clock on dash work but nothing else will turn on. i checked all fuses and wires and found nothing. Really needing help soon. THX aot guys.

not sure why you are saying no power to the distributor since you say it doesnt crank which means no power to starter. Do the headlights go dim when you try to start the engine? Have you had the battery tested?

Batterys good, got power to starter. Engine will turn over with starting trigger, but not getting any spark. Tested battery wire going into dist. And had nothing. Blows my mind.

the engine will turn over with starting trigger but not with key? If so sounds like ignition switch or if automatic neutral safety switch. If manual does the clutch pedal arm have a safety switch on it?

its is an auto tranny. but yea iv been wondering if it could be the ignition. because the problem is between the distributor and ignition.

ok, so back to neutral safety switch or ignition switch, can you apply 12v directly to dist. while using trigger
