1985 pontiac firebird 2.8 will not start. any suggestions?

the engine turns over but will not start. i just replaced the fuel pump and fuel pump relay but the fuel pump is not turning on. it is a fuel injected model
the fuel pump went bad and i just installed a new one, along with a new fuel pump relay. now the fuel pump is not cutting on. i know this because there isnt the tell-tale sound coming from the fuel tank that tells you it is working. the engine turns over but just wont start. the guy i bought it from told me he had it running but then the fuel pump relay burnt out. i cant figure this one out

Check for power and ground at the fuel pump harness near the tank...if no power, trace the wiring back to find where it's not getting power....if no ground, check the grounding connection. Remember, you need power AND ground to complete a circuit. Best to buy a repair manual like Chilton or Haynes from a parts store which has wiring diagrams or an online source like Eautorepair.net or Alldata.com.
