Just got this car and have done nothing to it since i got it.
It's all 100% bone stock, no mods at all (thank goodness!).
I know this could be a 100 different things but this car will not idle until its completely warmed up.Considering its TPI i figured should be able to turn the key and it should stay running like any other EFI system lol,but no.You have to keep your foot on the gas enough to keep it running just like a carborated system.Once it warms up more or less idles fine.
Now once it's warmed up and idling, it doesnt idle 100% correct, kinda sound like ,not a miss, but more like the power to distributor got cut off or it ran out of gas.I have checked the power wire to the distributor, but its connected just fine.
The only 2 things i can think of is ignition module possibly over heating, or a fuel problem.

Just wondering what some of the guru's of the forum thinks.
What should i check?

p.s. Check engine light works, but comes and off during normal operating temps.I figure its probably the oxygen sensors got carbon build up.
I will run the codes and get back w/ ya's when i get them, maybe that will help find the cold idle problem.

On another note, this is the first tuned port injection i have owned.

Well i ran the codes finaly and pulled 7 codes.13,21,22,32,34,43,44.
I have a 400 small block, im thinking of just doing a swap and call it a day.

you sound unsure of what you want to do first you say your happy it is all stock and then want to change the engine? Did you try correcting the issues the codes indicate?

Well the thing is , i just dont wanna start throwing money at it for parts and not fix it.I used to work at Autozone, and seen alot of ppl do that thinking that it would fix it.
After doing some looking under the hood, i have found that a few vacum lines are dry rotted bad, so i think thats where im gonna start trying to fix it. I know bad vacume can cause a ton of problems. If you look up these codes, alot of them point to a voltage problem to, so i will check the grounds as well.

I do not have the book in front of me, but I think one of those codes is the MAF.It may be just a bad relay.I had problems like this with my 86TA.A 400 small block will not just bolt in and go.Try fixing the codes first.Just my .02.

Yea i plan on trying to fix exsisting engine simply for fuel economy is better than the old carb version, not to mention horsepower.
I am just hard up for a 2nd ride, trying to get 3 ppl to work in 1 car is a lil rough lol
I know it has a MAF on it, just havnt had the time to mess with it.

Well it was a hot one out in the garage today whew!!
