1987 Pontiac Fiero should i buy it??

I'm looking to a buy a car, this is going to be my first one, i am 16 years old...My neighbor is selling a 1987 fiero gt, it caught my eye sense i first saw it..hes asking $1500, the car needs $1500 for paint body etc. engine is good. should i go for it?
it only has 87,000 original miles.
 
Sounds like a fun car for your first one. There have been some problems with the 2.8L V6 that GM put in that car. Working on the engine is a bear, since the car was designed to fit the 2.0 4cylinder and the 6 is tight in the engine compartment. I would check NADA.com and KBB.com for the going price for one of these, and lowball him - probably wouldn't offer more than $1000 for it. Don't sink a bunch of money into paint and body (or any other work) if you do buy it - just drive it until you have enough money for something better!

Don't forget to find out how much insurance will cost on it!
 
I had one. what a piece of trash. No, don't buy it. They quit making them for a good reason.
 
If you like it enought go for it because it's a good price and low mileage
