My car started acting up just before I moved. It seems like it started when my dad said that it sounded like my spark plugs needed changed. So I bought spark plugs and my brother gapped them (0.06) and installed them. The spark plugs we removed did not look bad. After this the check engine light came on and performance was worse. After this my exhaust system became cracked right behind the catalytic converter. The converter was removed and the pipe welded. My check engine light was still on and I was still having performance issues. A person at Advance checked my check engine code and actually came out to my car and found a loose vacuum hose. That seemed to make performance better. But my car was misfiring when hot and would try to die at intersections. We changed the spark plugs back to the original ones (which were actually gapped high at 0.09) and turned the idle up but the car still has a bad misfire. We replaced the spark plug wires and that seemed to get rid of the misfire. And the car worked fine for 2-3 days. Then it started having this problem where it would die whenever i came to a stoplight or stop sign. It did not die in my driveway though (in park) and it does not seem to be misfiring. But idle is surging.

Apparently the brake booster is working fine. And the TBI has a constant spray of fuel? There are no check engine lights on. The car just doesn't like to run hot. According to the temperature gauge, it isn't overheating. And my radiator fluid is always fine when I check it. So is the oil and transmission fluid.

Also, I just realized that I might not have gotten my car hot enough back home for this problem to occur, so I may not know exactly how long this problem has been occurring. It just seems that everything started when I changed my spark plugs. Although, now it seems that assessment may not be fair.
Also, it starts back up on the first try and drives away from the intersection without a problem. The hesitation and misfire problems seem to have gotten better.
