Hello everybody thanks for the add. I just recently bought my first trans am. The car is a fixer upper runs and drives but it has a few bugs i need to get worked out. First off is the oil and fuel gauge are both pegged on my instrument cluster. What gets me if usally when either sending units are bad the gauges usally just dont move. I have taken the fuel sending unit out and found a video of somethings i could try and same results. I havent messed with the oil sending unit yet mainly just on fuel guage and still nothin. First i was leaning towards the cluster being bad but i dont think thats the case since i have two guages doing the same thing. So as of right now im at a stand still any help would be greatly app. Thanks

Thanks for the link it seems it will be very helpful. I checked the ohms it reads 43.0. I will follow the steps on the link tomorrow and will let you know how it goes. I went as far as taking cluster out and moving the gauges to 0 and empty and soon as i turned the key on the oil pressure shot right back up to 80 and fuel gauge moved slowly back to past full. I will head to the auto parts to pick up a oil sending unit. If the fuel sending units bad can you just replace it or do you have to buy the whole fuel pump assembly?

If the car has the original pump or you are not sure replace it now.

Ok guys sorry it took so long to reply back. I changed fuel sending unit and that was the fix for fuel gauge. I was under the car why i had it up on my lift an noticed the wire for oil pressure was not plugged up bt still didnt fix the oil gauge. Now im working on some more issues like the car is running rich. I maid a quick pull on my way home and noticed the car feel like its holding back i guess you could say. It was still picking up speed bt it was kind of sluggish or had a slight miss in hard throttle. The fan recently quit working so ive got i a jumper in fuse block under hood so i was unplugging it when i noticed the manifold was cherry red. So anu input to why it would be running that rich would be greatly appreciated.

have you checked for computer codes?
have you checked the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator for gasoline, if you see gas replace the regulator.

I tested the fuel pressure and its 35 at start up and 28 when you give it gas. I think the pumps why it is leaning out on top end so im gonna start there.
