I just bought the car today and notice a knocking sound while I'm braking. Its not during the whole braking but only towards the very end right before I come to a stop. It does not sound like its coming from the wheels but rather right under the car.

When I idle it also knocks a little in park but when shifted into drive it stops. It does not knock while driving.

Also the key does not unlock the driver side door nor does the lock switch it doesn't lock the doors but will on the passanger side button is pressed. These are manual locks not via remote entry.

Did you buy it from a private party or a dealer. If a dealer did they give you a 30 day warranty? If so take it back. The sound you hear may be related to an exhaust pipe hitting the bottom of the car. The door panel has to be opend to see if a rod has disconnected or some other internal problem.

Hi I purchased from a private party. I already had the exhaust looked at and muffler replaced yesterday.

The knock when braking occurs just before I come to a complete stop. There is no hesitation in braking or shaking of the vehicle.

So the knock is no longer there when in park? If it only occurs when braking right before coming to a stop and appears to be from the front you should have the front suspension and front brakes checked.

OK there are two different knocks. One when braking just one thump before I come to a complete stop. The other is when its in park only. Its a slow rolling knock and then it stops when I take it out of park.

The noise when stopping could be brakes or suspension. The noise in park I would ask the shop that did the exhaust work to check if a pipe is hitting something and also check the motor mounts.
