The sunfire only over heated one time before this. If i turn the a/c on it goes back to normal temp. So I checked to see if the fan turns on with out the A/C . I let the car run for 10-15 mins and the fan did not kick on but the car didnt over heat. So I'm wondering if maybe the thermostat is just going bad but has not completely quit on me yet. Also I cant find the radiator cap which is usually easy to see but this one is tucked away some where. Any ideas?

i have a 1999 and the cap is on the overflow tank on the passenger side. i bought a haynes manual and it said thats where u put the antifreeze. its wired, im used to them being on the radiator. hope that helps.

If the fans are not kicking on take the relay out have it tested at a local auto parts store. If it works than you might have problems with the temp. sensor in the intake. Most new cars the have the cap on the overflow. Most don't even have a place on the radiator for a cap. The cap just has to be the highest point of the coolant system to work.
