Hello I have a 1997 sunfire. Been a decent car. The other day i was in mcds drive thru and placed my order. i went to pull to the window and i released the brake and pushed the gas and the car died. I immediately restarted and pulled forward fine. It dies a couple times a day after a long stop. I have swapped the tps with another off a cavalier that runs fine. I also switched the iac for the one on the cav. The cav still runs fine the sunfire still stalls. The plugs were changed in december and the wires were replaced before i got the car. I take it to oreillys and autozone and had both computers test it and there are no codes. Anyone else have this problem and what is causing it. I see somewhere theres some solenoid on the trans that can cause this but can anyone tell me exactly where that is? I hear the front and i see a plug on the front but wherever i saw that talked like there was just a couple wires going to it. The one I see on front has several. any help would be appreciated here as im going crazy over this.

when you switched the IAC did you check for any carbon build up in the passage and clean it? how many miles since you changed the fuel filter? have you done a fuel pressure test?

I sprayed and wiped it with carb and choke cleaner. also pulled the hose off the front and sprayed that side. I put a whole new gas tank and pump and filter and lines and all back in december. im going to say about 4000 miles since. The only thing i havent done is pressure tet. not sure how without the schrader valve. It goes into the shop wednesday if I don't get it before then. I took a screwdriver and listened to the injectors and they all sound the same. I checked the air filter and it is white still. I did spray off both the iac from both cars while I had them out. And the iac from the sunfire is on the cav and I have driven it and no problem although sunfire has same

Well... the car came back from the shop today. Problem is still there and they don't have any clue what it is. So I guess I will just have to wait til whatever is causing it fails completely. They cleaned up the throttle body some more and bumped the idle up. So as my plan c I filled up with premium and added some lucas fuel system cleaner.
