I have a 98 Pontiac Grand AM and I've had the engine replaced with a used one with around 78,000 miles on it. Ever since I've had it back the heat doesn't work right. If I let the car sit for a while it'll have heat but if I'm driving my heat blows cold. It doesn't matter if I let it sit and let the heat get warm as soon as I start driving I lose the heat and it blows cold until I let it sit for a little bit again.

You have air in the cooling system most probably, bleed the air out of the system.

Make sure your coolant is to the full line. Run the motor to operating temp and check again. Fill again if needed. Keep running.

There is a brass bleeder screw on the left side of the motor off a black pipe.
Crack it loose, watch your eyes and hands. Set it so a little coolant is leaking. Watch for air bubbles and coolant tank level. If you see no air in 2 minutes tighten the bleeder. Fill to line.
