1998 sunfire engine swap question

I have a 98 sunfire GT with the 2.4L in it. I`m looking to put a newer engine in it and would like to keep with the 2.4L. What is the newest year that i could swap in without having to swap computers, wiring harness`s, etc? What would the newest year be if i were to go with the 2.2L or ecotec?

the newest you could go with a 2.4L is whenever they stopped making it. as yours is a 98, its already OBDII, which therefore makes it compatible in every way with the newest 2.4L. to put in a 2.2L, I would assume that you would have to re-wire the car and get a new computer. A new computer at the very least. And the same with the 2.2L Ecotech.

the 2.4's the way to go too. those ecotechs are nice, but not as powerful as the 2.4.
