Any buddy know of a write up of replacing this or diagnosing the problem?

Thanks, JSGrind

hey brother, basically i wanted to see if I could replace this fuel sending unit by myself, and see if there was any online manuals or information on dropping the gas tank and what actually needs to be replaced.

I've never done this before, however It doesn't seem to difficult.

Thanks!

Well basicly your going to have to drop the fuel tank so I suggest getting a manual for your car . Hynes makes a manual for your vehical

You say it doesnt seem hard, humm , some things to consider. Being a 1999 rusty fuel lines could be a issue as you will have to disconnect fuel lines . You will also want to have a near empty fuel tank as gas tanks are VERY heavy with they have a lot of fuel in them . Another thing to consider is rusty fuel tank strap bolts . I done many fuel tanks professionaly. and let Me tell you some times the bolts are stubborn and rusty . If I didn't have air tools I dought I would have gotten them , I have even had them snap off and I had to repait that . (no fun) So as You see what looks easy as You say could turn ugly real fast. I dont mean to discourage You but this is hardly a task for a 1st time do it yourselfer with out the benifit of a lift , air tools , and a way to safely support and drain the fuel tank could prove dangerous

So we dropped the fuel tank unit and installed a fuel pump from ebay. the vehicle starts up and runs, however the fuel gauge shows completely empty and the gas light is on!!!!

Previously it ran fine but showed FULL TANK all the time.

Any ideas would be helpful thanks! also anyone have a haynes manual online? thanks
