1999 sunfire wont start

i accidentally started my sunfire without the alternator pluged in, i turned the car off pluged in the alt, and now it wont start. the anti theft light is on and i cant remember if it was on befor this or not. is there a way to reset the anti theft device?

check the battery, it my be dead.

no the battery isnt dead, it turns over and is getting fire and gas, just wont start
